Paul Harris Fellowship

Pres. Al Ellis presenting Tom Burgess
with his Paul Harris Fellowship.
The Canyon County Sunrise Rotary club is very proud of the generosity of it's individual members. This year we were able to recognize some of that generosity to members who have been welcomed into the Paul Harris Fellowship.

What does it mean to be named a Paul Harris Fellow? This society is named after Rotary’s founder,  Paul Harris, and it recognizes those who give $1,000 or more to the Annual Fund, Polio Plus, or an approved Rotary Foundation grant.

To recognize a non-Rotarian as a Paul Harris Fellow, members can give that amount in their name. One can also me recognized as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow with each addition gift of $1,000.

By joining the fellowship, you are making a lasting difference in communities around the world!

2013 Nampa Depot Fest - A Blast From the Past

A little taste of 'Les Mis'

We are very fortunate to have so many talented people in our group but the musical talent of our current president, Allen Ellis, is on a something to be heard! Al is very involved with the Music Theater of Idaho and this year he played the lead role in “Les Misérables”. He very kindly invited several of his fellow cast members to come and perform snip-its from the famous musical. We blown away with the talent of these guests! What a treat.

 Bravo!

Dog lovers unit!

The Canyon County Sunrise Rotary club will partner up with the
Nampa Noon Rotary Club in the effort to help out "Man's Best Friend".

Saturday, June 1st the Nampa Noon Rotarian's will be hosting a charity dog walk starting at the Nampa Civic Center. Registration starts at 9 am and the walk starts at 10 am. After participants complete the 2 mile walk they can visit the many vendor booths or have a dog and owner portrait done. Prizes will go to the winners of the following competitions: Pet/Owner look-a-like contest, Best dressed, Ugliest dog, Frisbee Catch.

Canyon County Sunrise Rotary members will be selling coffee and donuts during registration. After the walk our food trailer will start serving hot dogs, chips, drinks and doggy treats for our furry friends. So encourage your friends and family to bring Fido out for a little exercise. When you list Sunrise Rotary as your "cause" on your walk registration, $10 of the registration fee will go to the Canyon County Sunrise Rotary to be used in local good-works projects.

Check out the "Osprey Cam" at Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge

Many members of Canyon County Sunrise rotary are very involved with the Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge and over the years our club has contributed to the Friends of Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge program. Our club worked in partnership with the Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District to purchase a web cam for the refuge to use to monitor wildlife like osprey and falcons. Deer Flat is excited to see one of their osprey return to the refuge, it was sighted March 29th, and they expect the mate will follow shortly. You can check out these majestic birds using the "Osprey Webcam". The refuge has set it up at a new location for some great views of the nest. Go to the Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge webpage to take a peak at these native birds!
